BNP Paribas Open Donates $570,000 To The Champions Volunteer Foundation

The BNP Paribas Open announced today that the tournament is set to donate $570,000 to The Champions Volunteer Foundation (TCVF), marking the largest annual fundraising cycle of its 21-year history. The record-breaking fundraising campaign will benefit local Coachella Valley non-profits through grants awarded by The Champions Volunteer Foundation.

“This is a tremendous milestone for philanthropy in the Coachella Valley,” said Nancie Wingo, Director of Volunteer Development for the Foundation. “Donating more than half-a-million dollars will have a monumental impact on our desert community, and we are so proud of how the Foundation has grown into such a powerful force for good.”

As the official non-profit arm of the BNP Paribas Open, TCVF redistributes funds raised through the tournament each year to the local Coachella Valley community by awarding grants to non-profit organizations that support youth, recreational, educational, and well-care programs. Funds are given out to more than 50 organizations each year as selected through an annual application process. Past grant recipients include the Boys & Girls Club, Desert Cancer Foundation, Make-A-Wish, and Family YMCA of the Desert. The full list of 2023 recipients will be announced in December.

Following the completion of this 2023 grant cycle, The Champions Volunteer Foundation has now raised and donated a total of nearly $4 million since its inception in 2002.

In addition to awarding annual non-profit grants, the Foundation supports and engages the community by organizing volunteer operations for the BNP Paribas Open. TCVF recruits more than 1,200 volunteers to support the tournament each March.
